Backtune Records is a privately operated audio recording studio that is registered as music- and audio recording business in the central trade register of the city of Darmstadt [DEU]. The studio is officially authorized to produce and commercially distribute music. The studio is owned by Thomas Horn.

Thomas is a German multi-instrumentalist who works full-time as a graduate engineer in sales for an international company. Beyond that he studied audio engineering for several semesters at the German state-approved HOFA College [distance learning].

In addition to years of touring-/stage experience, Thomas now works in many musical genres at the same time. He mainly plays and produces the styles of electro dance, house, big beats, alternative rock and pop rock. From time to time he additional compose synphonies for concert grand piano. Under his synonym tommy 8ge Thomas is currently producing his second dance-/house album as well as occasional rock- and piano songs.

Thomas is enrolled at an Academy for sound producing profesionals based in Los Angeles. In this way he is constantly improving his special application-oriented expertise on the field of audio- and sound engineering.

Currently Thomas mainly studies professionally expertises of the Academy founder coach Warren Huart [Aerosmith, Ramones, James Blunt, The X-Factor TV Show ...], as well as the coaches Ulrich Wild [Sting, Snoop Dogg, Limp Bizkit, Incubus, Pantera, Slipknot, P.O.D., Stone Temple Pilots, Static-X, Staind, Deftones, White Zombie, Breaking Benjamin ...] and Bob Marlette  [Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tracy Chapman, Marilyn Manson , Shinedown ...].

In his studio, Thomas records and produces individual songs and carries out the final audio mixdown. With regard to album production, he manages the necessary audio production steps throughout the entire production cycle, right up to the final Mastering file.

Regarding to the different genre dependent Mastering process, Thomas works since many years closely together to the audio engineer Gyso Hilger [coach at Abbey Road Institute in Frankfurt-on-Main] and owner of Nektarium recording studio, as well as partially to the producer Rolf Munkes [Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, partial productions for the label Nuclear Blast. ..], who is also guitar player of the gothic metal band Crematory.

Optionally, he manages and evaluates the legal and commercial conditions of documents to be submitted to GEMA institution, including the contractual processes with CD press shops, through to the delivery of the completely printed album batches.

From time to time besides all of that Thomas gives acoustic and electric guitar lessons.
